Founded in 2009 by Dan Chinburg -- a UPenn-certified reading specialist and Fulbright Teaching Fellow to South Korea -- Lionheart Tutoring brings a research-based, personalized approach to academics and test prep on the Main Line. Their office is in Ardmore, near Suburban Square.
The reading and writing program is designed by a certified reading specialist and covers phonics, reading comprehension, grammar, and writing. Math tutoring runs from kindergarten through Calculus I and incorporates a Singapore Math approach. For standardized tests, Lionheart uses what they describe as a unique step-by-step mastery method for the SAT, ACT, GRE, ISEE, SSAT, Keystones, and PSSA exams.
One of Lionheart's more distinctive offerings is Mandarin Chinese instruction, available for students ranging from toddlers all the way to business professionals. They also provide study skills coaching and college entrance essay advising.
Over the years, Lionheart has tutored hundreds of clients across math, reading, writing, SAT/ACT, Mandarin, computer science, Spanish, biology, chemistry, and physics. Summer lessons are available for all levels. Dan's background as both a Fulbright Fellow and certified reading specialist gives the center an unusually strong foundation in literacy-based learning.
